Today, Leica has released a new firmware update for the entire M11 family of digital rangefinders. Firmware version 2.6.0 is now available for the Leica M11, M11-P, M11 Monochrom, M11-D, and the just-announced M EV1. This update introduces a new white balance adjustment feature, expands lens detection flexibility with manual override functionality, adds control of the dust protection function through the Leica FOTOS app, and includes several performance improvements and bug fixes. As always, we recommend staying up to date with the latest firmware.
Download links and installation instructions are provided below. You can also update the firmware via the Leica FOTOS app if paired with your M camera.
New Features and Improvements
White Balance Adjustment
A new fine-tuning tool lets you adjust the sensor’s white point, which is factory-calibrated at production. The setting influences both automatic white balance and the fixed Film Style presets, allowing you to make subtle global shifts warmer, cooler, or more neutral to suit your taste.
Expanded Lens Detection
Even when using 6-bit encoded lenses, you can now manually select a different M-lens profile from the list. Custom lens settings are saved in your user profile and included when exporting to SD. This provides creative flexibility and greater control over optical corrections.
Dust Protection via Leica FOTOS
Firmware 2.6.0 enables the Dust Protection function to be activated directly from the Leica FOTOS app (version 5.5.1 or later). This allows remote operation when preparing for a sensor clean or while traveling without a computer.
Bug Fixes
Improved stability when transferring images to Leica FOTOS. In rare cases, an interrupted download could not be resumed—this has been resolved.
Corrected exposure bracketing behavior with Auto ISO to prevent unnecessary high ISO values on subsequent frames.
Fixed orientation metadata for images captured during quick rotations between landscape and portrait orientation.
Download Firmware v2.6.0
To download the firmware file, simply click the button below. You'll need to drag and drop the downloaded firmware file onto an SD card which was freshly formatted in the camera, then insert the card into your Leica M with a fully charged battery. Navigate to the Camera Information menu to access the firmware update option. Don't try to open the firmware file on your computer – just copy it onto the SD card into the root directory.
Note that while the version number is the same, there are four separate firmware files, one for each specific camera model. Be sure to download and install the corresponding update.
