• I will be at the Cavallino Classic all day on Saturday, 10am-3:30pm. I will also be at the Supercar Show in West Palm Beach on Sunday. See you at the Breakers!

  • Nice. Seeing as how I only got to use the 30mm off a small balcony in NYC, your image really makes me want to go out for a “real” test. Hopefully, Leica will ramp up production soon.

Do you plan to constantly use it instead of the standard screen?
Is it brighter than the standard screen?
    Thanks a lot, Tom

The matte area of the screen is the same as the standard screen, but I'd guess that the microprism circle is about a…[Read more]

  • Well, I much preferred the game result of the Viking game.
But i once again brought my M9 with WATE and took this sunset Lambeau Field shot set at 16mm.
If you enlarge the photo you will see Aaron Rodgers making one of his signature runs. He had more running yardage than any of the Packers.

  • We were told that the microprism screen would start shipping in January. It's January and I see that some of our European members have already received screens. The usual pattern is that the US is 3 weeks behind Europe in terms of new product deliveries. So, I'd expect to see pretty good quantities in 1-2 weeks.

  • The first shows the Leica bokah but all are quite nice. Time for a self portrait in the new landscape.
I think Kipper is correct on your B&W process question.
I'm off to a football game this weekend, too bad you are too far away for me to borrow your 180 again.

  • Great stuff Kurt!

  • Stuart,
Your point about battery life is well taken. It is amazing. When one finally runs down, I always think something horrible has happened, as I see the camera so rarely down. Then I realize it's just the battery. This occurred once when shooting an event where i actually ran through a 64 Gig card before the battery ran down. I do have a…[Read more]

  • I prefer your white balance as you have it. I am shooting some overpasses from below and you are motivating me to do some night work on them. I can appreciate why you would like an S2 with the conditions you live in. Glad you are posting, not many of us get to your part of the world, and I like your eye.

I am looking to pick up an M6 in great condition but am completely new to the Leica / rangefinder world. Looking to get some longevity out of this investment, basically I want to be able to pick a camera up in 40 years and still have it work just as the day I got it (with proper care…

Your assumptions are correct. According to Stephan Schulz (S2 product manager), there is no vibration advantage when using CS lenses as the focal plane shutter must fire immediately before the leaf shutter. The only advantage of the CS lenses is for faster flash sync speed, which in itself, is only an advantage when shooting with studio strobes…[Read more]

    Jack,

I really like the first shot. I also like the more symmetrical version on your site of the same structure as well. Not sure which I like best. You could do a triptych series of 3 different angles of the same subject. Might be and interesting twist.

  • Jack MacD replied to the topic Replacing the focusing screen in the forum S2 14 years ago

    Not difficult.
Just make sure you don't scrape the screen on the metal holder. It can scratch easily.
Also make sure you put it in with the right side up, or the holder will not close properly.
If you have to feel like you are forcing it to click closed, you are probably upside down.
Don't drink coffee before the move.

Your Monitor Back Plane Brightness setting is currently on Automatic. This adjusts the monitor backlight (not image brightness) based on ambient lighting conditions. To change:

    1) Setup menu
    2) Monitor/Display
    3) Back Plane
    4) Backlight
    5) Change to Medium
    6) Confirm by depressing the thumb wheel

    This should solve your problem.
