Josh Lehrer replied to the topic Where are the CS lenses? in the forum S Lenses 12 years, 8 months ago
This is definitely a “grey area” right now, but I will be asking Leica about this when I see them in New York this week. I have a feeling we won't have many updates until the CS lenses begin shipping.

Al,
I believe David Farkas has checked into this and confirmed that the upgrades are available on purchases after the Sept 20, 2010 date and up until the CS lenses become available or something like that. Hopefully, David can clarify. I too have a lens purchase after that date which I hope is upgradable.

Unfortunately the CS lenses have not yet started to ship from Leica yet. They will have a number of pre-production examples at Photo Plus Expo in New York City next week, and I will be sure to ask them what the status of production is.

I really like the first one. I can't resist photographing brightly colored vines on tree trunks. Not sure why.

I tried this on an M9 just for fun, but no luck. Is there a similar service menu for the M9?

Really nice photos Marc. I gotta say, there is no way to detect the difficulties you had by looking at the photo. The exposure looks great to my eye.

THe hood does appear to be rather short and wide so I don't see how it can be very effective at 90mm especially since it appears to be attached to the end of the extending portion of the lens barrel.
If it were attached at the non-moving portion of the lens and the lens extends for the wider angle focal lengths and is fully retracted for…[Read more]

Here's a basic question. How do you think the lens hood will function on the new zoom….is it really only functional for use at the 30mm focal length?
Geoffrey
Good question. Honestly, I don't know. The answer will have to wait until I get a chance to test the lens.

David Farkas replied to the topic Help please ! prb with SanDisk 64GB SDXC Memory Card Extreme Pro Class 10 UHS-I in the forum S2 12 years, 9 months ago
The S2 doesn't officially support SDXC cards. The new S camera will, so I assume this is something that can be updated via firmware, seeing as how both cameras have the same Maestro processor.
My suggestion would be to hold off using the new 64GB card until it is officially supported via firmware. It might work now, but I would be wary of…[Read more]

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic OLED display going, going… in the forum S2 12 years, 9 months ago
A quick follow up…it's been about a year since we had the OLED screen's replaced on our S2-P bodies, and they haven't faded at all. And it looks like it's the same OLED that's going in the new S, which is a good sign.

I've been pleasantly surprised with the S2's reliability over the past few years, however that doesn't mean that problems never happen. Leica's S service in Germany is absolutely fantastic, courteous, and their turnaround times are very quick. If you send the camera directly to them (without going through Leica USA in NJ) it's usually two weeks…[Read more]

The detail in this shot is amazing. Zoomed in, you can really appreciate all the elements in the photo: the vibrant aqua-blue stream, the orange and red patterning in the rock formations, the little green trees – and all so crisp and clear!
I do think, however, some further post-processing could give this shot a little more pop. Perhaps some…[Read more]
