• Hi David, I will be at Photo Plus and will likely drop by the S Studio sometime on Thurs afternoon. Hopefully we'll get a chance to catch up.

The material is soft to the touch microfiber of some sort.
Net it feels good and is quiet.

I got my first M6 in the early 80's and preferred to use vests for photography back then.
I bought this vest then as the perfect combination of usable pockets and style. I ended up not using it as I preferred to downplay the brand of whatever gear I…[Read more]

  • Kipper,
So far your shot of the dead trees is one of my favorite images from that location.
Both David and I posted wide-angle shots of the location, and Joe privately showed me some excellent work. The dead trees was the best subject for all three of you.

However I did go back and of course try and convert one of my huge merges into a…[Read more]

At 25 years, it would be a toss up whether to frame it as a item of art, and
display it above my half century old Leica I inherited from my parents,
or to actually use it in the field. (I have some business suits that are
that old, still in great condition, that I enjoy wearing, so mere age is certainly
not a reason to keep this “in the…[Read more]

I have mine insured in Germany but that person does not offer for the UK. I found the insurance after I googled camera insurance. There are several insurance companies that offer special camera equipment insurance for items that are much more expensive than a S2 (Yes those do exist!).

  • It's great seeing images from photographers like Marc who offer a deliberate style that is flawless. I, on the other hand, tend to like to shoot with a more casual/on-the-fly approach. What's impressive is how well the S2 can be utilized in a number of different ways to fit your own particular style of shooting.

Here are a few from a recent wedding converted to black and white with Silver Efex Pro 2 …

I carry insurance offered through NANPA – expensive but full coverage

That looks like the perfect vest for a Leica shooter. But having stood next to you on this trip I'm afraid it might come down to my knees šŸ™‚ My good friend Roger is about your size but he's out of the country right now. This might be right up his alley.

Hi Andy – I assume you have a household policy for your residence? If they have a value/item limit, perhaps a separate rider could be drawn up. Cars often are valued more, of course, and are put to risk at least as much, so there should be a solution.

Good reminder for me to again discuss this with my household agent… As I recall previously…[Read more]

Very thoughtful offer, Jack, thank you! I think I will pass, as there would be a orange vs red clash with my Leica ballcap. šŸ™‚ Actually something more subtle would be preferable. It has some notable features, with the removable document holder, unusual side pouches, epaulets etc. The fabric looks shiny in the pic… I’m sure someone will value t…[Read more]

For the past four years, I have used the Billingham in certain travel situations and could fit my whole bag in the vest which was great for air travel with restrictions. Best to use the Billingham in the fall season since it does get a bit warm.

    Good luck,

  • David,

Nice shots. You really nailed the tractor shot. Unfortunately, I must have moved my focus or just not paid attention to focus at all as I was chopping down weeds with a Swiss Army Knife in front of our camera position.

    Doug,
As you might notice from my other postings, I too prefer pockets over bags. I wear a sport coat as my purse, and it is because it has many handy pockets. On the Fall trip I used a rain jacket and a hunting jacket which had large pockets.

I had vests in the past. But I concluded they are clunky and the pockets are not big enough for S…[Read more]

Thanks for the useful example pics, Josh! Mine has distinctly green letters like the bottom example, indoors where I can see it. Outdoors if I cup my hand around it, then it's faintly visible.

[Mine, shipped yesterday to NJ by UPS Next Day Air, didn't even make it out of town yet, so I think I'll be getting a refund on the shipping costs.]

  • Can only get one of my two favorite shots from Day Three to upload…but there were other nice shots too. I'll try to get the second one up later.

  • Emailed Leica NJ today and a loaner should be here Monday so I can have my S2-P updated.

Could not see the OLED at 700AM here in the shade.
