The SU-800 Commander for the R1C1 does have the ability to control the SB-R200 flashes in M mode so it should work, although I have not personally tried.
The R1C1 does come with a 72mm adapter ring…[Read more]

Jack MacD replied to the topic What do you do with moire in the S2? in the forum S2 14 years, 9 months ago
David, as usual, has the fix suggestion for when you are taking the photo.
If you want to try and fix this after the fact in Light Room, you can do a local brush that is set to reduce clarity and or sharpness just a bit. Just apply it to the worst areas. It is pretty fast. Not perfect, but I would rather skip the AA filter to get the rest of…[Read more]

Pretty cool, Mark.
You realize that if you printed this 20″ tall, you'd end up with a print 17 feet in length?!

jrv replied to the topic S2 ISO adjustments. What does it all mean in the forum S2 14 years, 9 months ago
Remember that “ISO” is different in the digital world than with film. The sensitivity (“ISO”) of a digital sensor is what it is and cannot be changed; changing a digital camera's ISO setting changes the readout strategy or “the way the lab processes the roll of film”.
In both tests in David's experiment the sensor had the same state when the…[Read more]

That is good to know. Thank you.
I actually ventured outside my comfort zone of landscapes and wildlife earlier this week and did some bridal shots for a friend. Surprisingly, I ended up using all three of my lenses – 35mm, 70mm (most used), and 180mm (least used).

But I like to use sometimes just a bit “fill-in” flash in TTL “on the fly” (mostly with exposure correction to -0.7 – – 1.5) which works very well with Nikon. How to do that with the S2? Also in AA-mode?…

I use Helicon a lot. I have never used 28 images to stack. I usually max at 8.
I presume you were on a tripod and rail. If not you have no real chance. S2 files give the programme a headache at the best of times.

Well done David. Samantha is a terrific model. The 120mm is perfectly suited for this type of photography and therefore, the CS version would be ideal. It's a good thing I don't do this type of photography because I would have to buy a 120mm CS.

Yes, SB900s will only work in AA or M mode on the S2. You can trigger them on PW FlexTT5s, but you will need to set the Pocket Wizards into Basic Trigger Mode using the computer utility.
