Hi Arif. I have the M9 not the S2. However similar artefacts have been rarely reported with the M8 and M9. In those instances it appears to be a problem with the sensor and its supporting electronics. It may only be evident in particular conditions (as you noted).
The fix in those cases has been usually warranty priority repair by replacing the…[Read more]

I like the pre-asph 50 1.4 . Mine is the later one with the lens hood. This one is sharp enough wide open. I had this Lens in the older body with a clip on lens hood a few years back. Serial no. 24xxx or something, and I seem to recall it had more character, so I liked it more. The bokeh to my eyes was just so special. People say the later one…[Read more]

    Hi Arif
is this just a single line at exactly the same position each time ??
it looks more like a fault with the Sensor if it is.. unlike a scratch which would be more prevalent the more you close the aperture on a lighter background.. I have not seen this before on a S2 but you need to have it checked out.. how old is the Body as a few…[Read more]

Sorry, I should have highlighted the line in the 100% crops which are reattached. Please find them between the red boxes in these pictures (you may have to double click them twice to see at 100% resolution).

    Apologies for the inconvenience,

    thank you for the responses.
I have to say i finD the af slow but very accurate.
The Bokeh…I really like the one of the S2 but find the M-lenses bokeh at least as “good”-the S2 maybe a little more distingued, the M9 maybe a little more creamy (in case of the 50 Lux vs the 70mm S)

Strange list. NEX-7 may be lusted… but it will disappoint some I'm sure.

Ordered one in Sept or so and of course was put on wait. Had planned to have my wife use the NEX and bought an A77 for myself. The idea of interchangeable bodies and common lenses was strong.

Alas, the A77, while “adequate” is no match for an M9, much less an S2!…[Read more]

No camera/lens combination I've used can match the depth and bokeh (ther's that stupid word again) of an S2.

However the M9 is second best and far better than almost anything else. If you didn't have the S2 to compare it to you'd think it The Best.

S2 is such a monster, and sadly I don't find its AF all that perfect, even when I set…[Read more]

Nice link, Michael, and it's good to see the sequence is the same. Note that despite mirror up, the focal plane shutter still does its thing, opening and closing. Any slight jiggle from the focal plane shutter opening could be negated by a delay in the release of the leaf shutter… if possible?

My next question would be to ask if there are any possible advantages for using the leaf shutter vs. the focal plane shutter at slower shutter speeds?
