Not just that
Many of the new smaller format cameras from Sony, Ricoh, Oly, Pana and a couple more now have sufficiently short FFL's and adapters for M-lenses and the net camera blogs are touting the advantages that we long-time Leica uses know; NO ONE makes glass as Leica does.
So a whole new class of camera owners are now Leica lens users…

Don't flame David. He did thereal hard work in finding therelevant part of the manual ….. Which is not the easiest job in the world.
I can confirm that it all works just like the book says.

Josh, I'll take you up on that Kindle:o !! Now if the HSS mode works at high shutter speeds, could I use the SF58 to trigger external strobes? Or does the HSS mode “strobe” short bursts during the exposure like HMI?

RGK, I think I am going to send you a Kindle loaded with ALL the Leica manuals for the holidays.

Mr. Farkas' response is brutal. The poor fellow just asked a question and Farkas instantly speared him with the hated manual. This could have been handled better. I'll never ask a question again.

TTL-HSS is TTL on the S2. It just works at any and all shutter speeds up to 1/4000th. Set the camera to whatever exposure mode (M, P, A, or S) and settings you wish to shoot at, and the flash will adjust accordingly. Works remarkably well for me in both direct and bounce modes.
Not sure why you are not able to get your secondary small flash…[Read more]

sadly I quite agree!
my problem is that the flash seems to have a mind of its own and randomly flashes when it feels like it in what I would call “spasms” of flash.
would not mind it so much but;
1) sometimes the flash is recharging when I do want to take an image, and
2) someone will tell me, “…did you know your flash is…[Read more]

I just found that thread.
I kept my Nikon D700 and M9 when I got the S2. The D700 for fast AF and tele. However I really have used the D700 nearly zero for the last months.
The M9 I have usd occasionally (for example on vacation when I didnt want to carry the S2).
And then I use a smaller camera for bycicle tours, or for evenings/ parties…[Read more] -

I'm not surprised. The SU800 is a data transmission tool for iTTL, not just a simple IR-trigger. It probably needs some processing power or data input from the camera to work, even in manual mode.

Hi There
I happen to have both and have tried. Doesn't seem to be working: can't get the flashes to fire. Neither in manual nor in TTL mode. Anything I'm missing?
Cheers

Here's a question for those that have touched the real thing … are they bigger fatter longer? How much more do they weigh?
from the documents on the lenses, the CS-Version weights about 150 g more than the non-CS (for the 120 mm lens). The size should be the same
