antonybphoto;3895 wrote: Thanks for the input guys.
I guess the thing I keep reading is S is not MF it's just 35mm on steroids.
The S2 has a sensor size of 30x45mm, which is roughly 60% larger than a full frame 35 DSLR. For comparison of “real” MF, a Phase One IQ140 or Hasselblad H4D40 have a sensor size of 33x44mm. Here, the…[Read more]

Per the Pentax lenses, I think this post on Red Dot Forum should answer a few of your questions:
In short, the Leica S lenses are far superior. Not only in quality, but you gain auto focus, electronic aperture control,…[Read more]

Always happy to save someone from having a $5-7000 lens hit the floor, much less a lake.
I'm curious what drew your attention to this post? I tried to make it attention getting but perhaps I could do better? So now tell us your 35mm story please

Leica's Image Shuttle software offers complete control over all the S2's settings including focus, not only can you activate the camera's auto focus, you can type in a physical distance and the lens will focus there. You can also fine-tune the focus in small or large increments. All without touching the camera.
Could you clarify what you…[Read more]

Al,
I've never seen this actually happen in practice. You must have had a pretty low battery level. Good thing no harm was done.

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic And here we go. The NEW S2! in the forum Leica S 13 years ago
The new Leica S has an entirely new auto focus sensor which is not only faster, but more accurate, especially in lower light and low contrast situations. The focus is still center-point only for maximum accuracy, which would require you to focus and recompose on an off-center subject. Hasselblad has a feature called “True Focus” which is what you…[Read more]

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic S2 + S to H adaptor with 100/2.2 questions in the forum Alternative Lenses 13 years ago
I have seen a faulty adapter once that caused a similar problem, so I imagine that is most likely the case. I would have the adapter replaced, and see if you still are having trouble. Normally, the S-Adapter-H works with the S2 just like the S lenses, meaning you have focus confirmation and full functionality of exposure controls and readouts. I…[Read more]

The two new lenses were/are slated to be released in December. With the Holidays coming up, I'm assuming that means early January.

This is correct. The SF 58 won't fire in TTL on the S2, only TTL-HSS.
Have you tried A mode yet? I'm not sure if each flash will self-meter, but…[Read more]

Monochrom's are coming in, just very slowly. Demand is still extremely high which is great, but it will probably be a number of months before us dealers are caught up on our lists. Everyone I know that's received one absolutely loves it, and having some brief time to test it myself recently, I can confirm that there is no other camera like it that…[Read more]

If I see some (limited) use using longer R-lenses on the M, I really doubt if this makes a sense for wide angle and zooms (again, the longer zooms may be an option).

I saw you over there chatting up the models, stealing shots by window light. Your results are pretty amazing given the brief amounts of time and light you were dealing with.
