Paratom replied to the topic S2 shooting technique advice pleas in the forum S2 13 years ago
The only way I am successfull is to prefocus on a certain point where I expect the subject to come and then press the shutter once the subject reaches this point.
Its still a hit and miss.
Some time ago I have used my D700 again and as much as I love the S2 for this type of images the continues AF of the Nikon is a releaf. -

Just to follow up. I reinstalled twice and its the same problem.
Then I put in the old focusing screen and it turns out that it shows the same behaviour (just more difficult to realized because there is no split line)What I allways thought would be an AF more precise than my eyes seems to be a screen holder which is not in its totally…[Read more]

David and Josh… your presets need to be reworked for this iteration of LR. The old ones give bizarre results.
substantial improvement in which regard?

I just received my microprism screen , installed it right away… and found out that focusing with the screen leads to very slight backfocus while the AF works fine.
Any recommandations? Anybody with the same problem?
I can not really say how accurate manual focus worked before with the old screen. -
Paratom replied to the topic LFI in the forum S2 13 years, 1 month ago
I agree Kurt.
Specially the S-league -even though there are great images-they are all about the same theme (fashion) and thats why I find it pretty boaring and monotone after some time. -

Hi Georh,
interesting- while you are going from carrying 3 ro carrying 4 lenses, I now often just bring 2 lenses with the S2 in a smaller backback. It is harder to decided which lenses to carry but in the end if seems to often work pretty good with just 2 lenses.
Let me know what you found!

Paratom replied to the topic S2 and Nikon D800E in the forum S2 13 years, 2 months ago
I would say the D800 doesnt change anything about the S2.
The D800 is great for Nikon users who like to print big or crop a lot.
I still expect the S2 to have a bigger viewfinder, the images to show more detail and micro detail, a different behaviour regarding DOF and transition between focus and oof areas, better tonality and “better”…[Read more]

Paratom replied to the topic 180mm or 120mm First? in the forum S Lenses 13 years, 2 months ago
I started with 35/70 and then asked myself the same question.
I then decided for the 120 but added the 180 not long ago.I would say it really depends – the 120 offers even shallower DOF and has the 1:2 “Macro” capability.
BUT – the 180 adds that little bit more reach and telelook which sometimes really helps. In my case I seem to…[Read more]

I only have experience the OLED problem and Leica has replaced mine for free.
While I would rate the Leica service overall very good and helpfull I have to agree that I find the quality control not allways sufficient and something Leica should work on IMO.
Regards and I hope your issued will be solved soon since the S2 is a terricic camera…[Read more] -
Paratom replied to the topic Microprism focusing screen availability … in the forum S2 13 years, 3 months ago
Thank you -that sounds promising.
I have ordered one yesterday and this encourages me that it was the right decision.
I use AF a lot but sometimes correct manually, and insome scenery MF works better. It works well with the standard screen but I assume even better with the microprism. -
Paratom replied to the topic Microprism focusing screen availability … in the forum S2 13 years, 3 months ago
Those who have tried it-how do you like the new Microprism focusing screen ?
Do you plan to constantly use it instead of the standard screen?
Is it brighter than the standard screen?
Thanks a lot, Tom -

thank you for the responses.
I have to say i finD the af slow but very accurate.
The Bokeh…I really like the one of the S2 but find the M-lenses bokeh at least as “good”-the S2 maybe a little more distingued, the M9 maybe a little more creamy (in case of the 50 Lux vs the 70mm S)
My favorite lens on the S2 is the 120 though-and yes, I…[Read more] -

I have the original Leica grip but dont use it any more.
Maybe my hands are different but I can hold the M9 pretty good without any additional things – specially since I need 2 hands anyways (for focusing). Different with the x1 where I now use the grip all the time since I can hold it one handed if I want. The magnifier 1.25 I had used a…[Read more]
