Indeed the Elmarit 90 is a very pleasing lens, I love it too. I especially apreciate the built-in lenshood.
If you can live with a half stop less light, then considering the Macro-Elmar is an option. More compact (collapsible), it delivers excelent result.
The beauty of the Leica lens-line-up is that you can use most older lenses without…[Read more]

AAAAAAGGGHH!!! What is it with these “nanny-state” manufacturer attitudes to what is permissable in photography?! Hasselblad are just as bad as Leica. Let ME, the CUSTOMER, the PHOTOGRAPHER, the ARTIST, be the judge of what is optimal or not! 😡 Leica, stop…

I've seen reference several times to plans/hopes to address both these issues. What is the current status regarding
(1) the longest exposure time possible on B? [and why isn't it arbitary/unlimited, as it is in the Pentax 645D with an almost identical sensor?];
(2) slowing down the readout speed in order to… -

David,
This forum is a fantastic resource and has proved very helpful in navigating the world of Lica lenses. I was a bit confused by the various versions of the Elmarit-M, but you've cleared that up, so thanks.
I lost two auctions in a row, where a mint versions of the lens sold in excess of $2,200. Deals clearly are few and far…[Read more]

Like Josh, I'm a new Lica user, having recently purchased an M9. I've been looking for a good price on a Elmarit f2.8 90mm, and I've been scratching my head, trying to reconcile what I've read on posts about fair prices being under $800 for a mint condition lens,…

It sounds like the S2 may have the same issue.
My experience with the S2 and…[Read more]

This is very helpful. The world of Lica can be a bit intimidating and, at times, confounding. I feel better equipped to bid on the lens now.Best,

First the 90/2.8 EM is an excellent lens that I use frequently. The M version of the lens (latest ) has the pull out shade and uses a 46mm filter . The used price can vary considerably based on the age and condition of the specific lens. A mint 6 bit coded lens in the silver box will be considered the current model and will sell for…[Read more]

I about spewed my drink when I read that. Good one David.
I like the drama of the B&W. I know we were there to capture fall colors, but in this case the B&W looks best to my eye.

My first reaction was go with the punchier version…but after looking at them for a while I'm going with the B&W. On the one hand it's tough to throw away those beautiful fall colors…but on the other hand I think the image is strong enough to go B&W. Having said that, you can't go wrong with any of them. Perhaps a triptych 🙂

Seagate Go Flex might be a solution for file swapping between computers for me.
I have an 2010 iMac without thunderbolt but with firewire 800 and also a 2011 MacAir with thunderbolt and USB 2.0.
