Are we talking Leica-branded lenses, or M-mount lenses? I didn't have a 50mm at all for many years, using just the 35 Summicron and 90 TE on my M2. Now I have several 50mm lenses but none are Leica.

I'm doing it the same way as you when shooting handheld. I do set the exposure by half pressing the shutter release, focus with the back button, compose the picture and fire.

Tripod is different. Before using the S2 I very often used the M Mode. But with the S2 I mostly use the exposure compensation.

I've been shooting mine recently and absolutely love it. And considering the price of used lenses these days… it's a relative bargain 🙂

I'm a matrix (multiple) metering/aperture priority shooter…at least for the most part. When I shoot Nikon D3S I've got the ev comp down pretty well and it's very simple to implement.
