David and I are frequently asked what our favorite accessory is for Leica M digital cameras and our answer is always the Thumbs Up. Manufactured by Match Technical Services, the Thumbs Up is a small grip that slides into the hot shoe of your Leica M8, M8.2, M9, or M9-P and provides a place for your thumb to grab, similar to the film advance lever on a Leica M film camera.

In this newest video, we go over the lineup of Thumbs Up products and explain how they work. With a wide selection of styles and finishes available, this video should make it clear what the best choice will be for your camera:

I just got hold of the new CSEP-1S with a much wider silicon rubber band on the back as a cushion. I really like this design because now the pressure from the thumb is well distributed on the back (hence less stress on the hot shoe). Thanks to the extended cushion, I never fear the thumb rest may scratch the camera anymore.

Great video about a great accessory. But you really should have ended the video with a “thumbs-up” 🙂
