Mark Gowin replied to the topic Editorial shoot with the Leica S2 in the forum S2 12 years, 7 months ago
For what it's worth, Leica has new version of its shuttle software for shooting tethered which should be released soon. I saw it in action at the Leica studio event at PhotoPlus about a month ago. I don't know when it will be available for S2 owners to download and I don't know if it offers any performance improvement over the current version.…[Read more]

Mark Gowin replied to the topic How bad is the curvature of field in the 70mm S lens? in the forum S Lenses 12 years, 7 months ago
I agree Stuart. Leica has always handled my few equipment issues very fairly. I can honestly say, I will continue to be a Leica customer largely because the manner in which they have resolved issues and treated me over the years. A company can make the best products in the world, but that is worthless to me if they don't stand behind it.…[Read more]

This is correct. The SF 58 won't fire in TTL on the S2, only TTL-HSS.
Have you tried A mode yet? I'm not sure if each flash will self-meter, but…[Read more]

I will add that as the ISO is increased the max shutter speed decreases.

125 Seconds.
Set the shutter speed dial to B, then depress the thumb wheel. All the times will show on the screen.

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic Any Monochrom deliveries yet? in the forum M Monochrom 12 years, 8 months ago
Monochrom's are coming in, just very slowly. Demand is still extremely high which is great, but it will probably be a number of months before us dealers are caught up on our lists. Everyone I know that's received one absolutely loves it, and having some brief time to test it myself recently, I can confirm that there is no other camera like it that…[Read more]

Gorgeous images! I've always been a Porsche enthusiast. Did they have any 959's there?

Thank you all for the kind words. I must admit I really enjoyed my brief time photographing the models and would like to do more of it. I think most of the talent showing in theses photos is from the model. I didn't have to do anything but compose and fire shutter.
Jack, the first photo is my favorite as well and I do want to print it large…[Read more]

If I see some (limited) use using longer R-lenses on the M, I really doubt if this makes a sense for wide angle and zooms (again, the longer zooms may be an option).
The M…

Mark,
I saw you over there chatting up the models, stealing shots by window light. Your results are pretty amazing given the brief amounts of time and light you were dealing with.
I have to echo what Jack said. Go and shoot more people in studio! With some decent lighting, you'll find it'll be easier to focus on posing and composition…[Read more]

David Farkas replied to the topic Where are the CS lenses? in the forum S Lenses 12 years, 8 months ago
Yes, the lenses exist and sync perfectly at 1/1000th. They haven't started shipping yet, but are expected to by December.
We are still trying to determine how Leica will carry out the upgrade program given the delays. I'm sorry we haven't been able to get a definitive answer yet.

As a follow-up to this thread, I recently found myself in need of a new laptop. Mine had a little fall while traveling to Photokina and the lower left hand corner of my screen now has a very strong red cast. 🙁
So, I visited the Apple store upon my return home and played with a rMBP for a good hour plus. Unfortunately, my concerns over pixel…[Read more]

David Farkas replied to the topic The new MAX 24 MP sensor in the forum Leica M 12 years, 8 months ago
Given Leica's drive to deliver the absolute best image quality through the entire imaging chain from lens to file, it is not surprising that they would go the extra kilometer to have the most advanced sensor on the market. They've really come a long way in the last few years, with almost all digital R&D being brought in-house.

I don't know how old the news is, but I definitely see it as good news. I am glad to see Leica on the forefront of this technology. I handled the new M at PhotoPlus last week and to no surprise it felt exactly like an M which is a great thing.
I can't wait to see the image quality from this new sensor. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too…[Read more]

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic Anyone Missing Their M? in the forum S2 12 years, 8 months ago
I love the M9 for it's versatility and small size, but the S2 is simply great for almost everything. I use it as a walk-around camera. Yes, it's bigger than the M, but I spent few years lugging around a Canon 1D with a 24-70mm so the S2 is small in comparison to that. Plus auto-focus is nice to have.
