Thanks David. I will re-install it.
Thanks for all the good info here.
Too bad I am living to far away to be your customer.

David, didn't you post the earlier thread on file corruption? Evidently you have experienced the same thing exactly. You were obviously shooting flash too, so it appears to be a systemic problem, not just with my unit. And given that the black frames are actually underexposed captures, it would seem the problem lies with the shutter/flash sync.

This is the same problem I referred to in a new thread called Shooting Blanks. Apparently it is symptomatic of the camera, not just mine. I used flash when it occurred and I was certain the flash fired on those blank shots. On a whim, I hit Auto Tone on those blanks in Lightroom and to my surprise there was indeed an image recorded, albeit way…[Read more]

Hasn't happened to me on the few occasions that I've shot tethered…also to LR3.

I used the Kenko NDX Variable ND filter on our New England Fall Foliage workshop with excellent results. Check out this thread for a few images.

I agree Kurt.
Specially the S-league -even though there are great images-they are all about the same theme (fashion) and thats why I find it pretty boaring and monotone after some time. -

I fully agree with the points you made. The Leica User Forum, for example, is practically worthless for us amateur – S2-users.

Hi Georh,
interesting- while you are going from carrying 3 ro carrying 4 lenses, I now often just bring 2 lenses with the S2 in a smaller backback. It is harder to decided which lenses to carry but in the end if seems to often work pretty good with just 2 lenses.
Let me know what you found!

Thanks for the tip. Will check this one out. Would love to buy from your store but I am based in Europe.

I use the Singh-Ray variable ND filters all the time. They make a thin version in additional to their regular version and neither causes vignetting on the 35mm.

Marc,
Everyone who was on the New England Fall trip with David worked with ND and variable ND. They were so valuable, every one bought into David's system. I suspect he will be answering you too. But from a user perspective there was no vignetting issue with the 35 using screw in polarizing and ND filters. We also used David's “external” system…[Read more] -

Very nice series of images, Cam. I agree that the zoom would be nice. I only worry that I'd be not as fond of the variable aperture.

Nice job, Jack! I really like the way that the S2 renders desert light.

I have been there a few times and on my last visit Leonard was heading to the hospital – he looked very ill. I'm glad to see he is doing well! It's an amazing place to photograph as well as the rest of the Salton Sea. Nice job!

Thanks for the comments. A 30-90mm zoom would also be great then I could add the 120mm and I'm good. This would allow for long walks around a city without carrying a backpack. My current debate is whether I keep both my 30mm and my 35mm. Right now I'm thinking of selling the 35mm. Lugging both is too much extra poundage!

Cam,
Great shots, I like the one with the blue car in motion adds a lot to the image.I sincerely hope that there is someone working on a high ISO solution for the S2. To have to decide on image quality or just getting the image is tough.

Cam the third one is super cool. I love the motion, the tonality and the colors. GREAT!

Very impressive photos. The images have a very good texture to them. I agree with you about wanting an extra stop of clean ISO. Your photo of the Harley gas cap at ISO 640 demonstrates just how good it can be when properly exposed. Too bad ISO 1250 isn't as good. Even with the relatively fast Leica S glass, sometimes you really need more low light…[Read more]
