No problems here with any of my Leica lenses but I did have an issue with a third party lens recently and was advised to double check and make sure the focusing screen was properly seated. It's worth a look…

Thanks guys,
David, yes it is always what's behind the camera no matter who …. however, when a camera does what it is supposed to do, when it is supposed to do it, and the files have such a nice look and feel, it's a real help.
Frankly, I have not seen files from any other camera provide the look and feel that the S2 provides. There…[Read more]

Sorry to hear about your issues. I have not had any focus problems with my 70mm. Maybe others can offer some info.

Hi David,
Have you made an S2 preset for this version of Lightroom? I've used one that you developed in the past that was a great jumping off point. If you have a new one, would you mind sharing?
Thanks.

Jack MacD replied to the topic What's your favorite 50mm M lens? in the forum M Lenses 14 years, 2 months ago
The only 50mm I have is a modern Elmar 2.8 collapsable. so it would be my favorite. There was some question as to it being safe to use on an M8 or M9 but it seems to have adequate clearance from the shutter when collapsed. I suspect that concern was about an older model? If I am not correct, someone on this forum might tell me?
I rarely…[Read more]

Marc,
I really like the Calder shot.
That shot would definitly look great in 30″.
I have learned that one should always keep shooting in the dark, and that shot proves it.
Of course you brought your own sun, but your balance of light was so good, I would not have imagined the conditions if you had not told us. -

Well done Marc. Glad to hear the S2 is doing the job…but I think you deserve the lions share of credit. Always enjoy reading about your lighting solutions…

Personally I wouldn't hold my breath regarding a Leica shift lens for the S2. There was never one for the R series either … just an R mount Schneider 28mm which was okay, but not a stellar performer.
One could use a V adapter and the Hasselblad PC Mutar shift adapter with a Zeiss 40IF CFE, which I've used on other focal plane cameras ……[Read more]

Very vivid examples, thank you. Being new to DRF, and learning the quirks of the M8.2, it sure does help with a side by side comparison. Now i need to find those filters for me.
I believe the M8/8.2's magenta hue is a given. What was ” The M9 shows more IR leakage than the M8 used with the IR cut filter over the lens” statement about? New…[Read more]

Agreed; I leave the UV/IR blocking filters on, with the M9… and it also seems to reduce red corners with wide lenses too. Further, it's handy as I use M8 as well and can just…[Read more]

This question came up on getdpi.com, I did a quick test with the M8+IR cut filter, M8 without filter, and M9.
Leica UV/IR filter over lens, C-Sonnar 50/1.5 wide-open, 1/4th second exposure.
Leica M8 WITHOUT the UV/IR filter over lens, C-Sonnar 50/1.5 wide-open, 1/8th second.
I've used a Wratten 88A filter with the M8,…[Read more]

I am familiar with sensor artifacts, would help to see your photos.
If this occurs only under certain lighting conditions, it's easy to tell. Usually a saturated area on the detector drags down other areas. If extaneous light hits the calibration portion of the detector, odd things…[Read more]
