Leica ZM 1 and ZM 2 Urban Green

Leica has announced the latest additions to its growing line of precision mechanical timepieces: the Leica ZM 1 Urban Green and Leica ZM 2 Urban Green. These new models bring a striking aesthetic update to the ZM series, pairing Leica’s signature minimalist design language with an eye-catching deep green fumé dial. Built in partnership with Lehmann Präzision in Germany’s Black Forest, the ZM 1 and ZM 2 Urban Green watches deliver precise mechanical performance with refined detailing and exceptional craftsmanship.

A Distinctive Dial

Both Urban Green models feature a dial milled from solid aluminum, vertically hand-brushed, then hand painted in a gradient that transitions from a rich green center to near-black at the edges. The resulting effect, known as fumé noir, gives each watch a unique visual depth. Each dial takes between 16 and 20 hours to finish. And because the dials are hand-crafted, each one is subtly unique. Rhodium-plated, diamond-cut indices and hands ensure legibility and a touch of elegance.

Leica Caliber ZM 1 and ZM 2

Inside the ZM 1 is the Leica Caliber ZM 1, a bespoke hand-wound mechanical movement comprising 280 components and 26 jewels, regulated on five axes for precision and offering a 60-hour power reserve. In the ZM 2, the Leica Caliber ZM 2 expands on this foundation with the addition of a second time zone (GMT) and a synchronized day/night indicator, ideal for international travel.

Both movements are assembled and regulated at the Lehmann facility in the Black Forest and feature Leica’s patented push-crown, which halts the movement, resets the seconds hand, and allows for precise time setting with a simple press.

Straps and Finishing Touches

Two strap options are available: a stainless-steel Milanaise bracelet with deployant clasp or a black calfskin leather strap lined with green Alcantara and finished with green contrast stitching and a stainless-steel pin buckle.

Crafted from solid stainless steel, the new Milanaise bracelet features a finely woven, mesh-like structure designed to caress the wrist with fluid comfort. Its brushed satin finish pairs elegantly with the case’s refined surfaces, while polished bevels add a subtle visual contrast. The bracelet is equipped with an integrated deployant clasp offering a secure and customized fit, adjustable from 195 to 215 mm, with additional micro-adjustment positions in 2 mm increments. A diagonally detailed safety clasp, engraved with the Leica wordmark, completes the design, reinforcing both the aesthetic and functional precision that defines the ZM Urban Green collection.
