Just got word that the Leica C Image Shuttle App for iPhone and iPad will not be compatible with the soon-to-be-released iOS11. Apple is rolling out iOS11 along with the iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus, which were announced today. The Leica C Image Shuttle App provides wireless connectivity to the Leica C (Typ 112), D-Lux (Typ 109) and V-Lux (Typ 114).

Why the lack of compatibility? Simple. The current Leica C Image Shuttle app is 32-bit, but only 64-bit apps will work with the new iOS11.

Not to fear, though. Leica is actively working on a 64-bit update that should be available in the App Store by early October. If you really, really need to continue using the app, don't update your current iPhone or iPad to iOS10 just yet. Android users will be unaffected.

Here's the full press release from Leica:

Press Release

Leica C Image Shuttle App

Leica Camera would like to inform you that the use of the Image Shuttle App in combination with the Leica C, Leica D-Lux and Leica V-Lux cameras will no longer be possible with the upcoming Apple iOS11 operating system. This incompatibility is because the iOS11 operating system supports only 64-bit apps. In view of this, the app will no longer be available as a download from the App Store.

Leica is currently working diligently on establishing compatibility with the new Apple operating system and anticipate that the new version of the app will be released early October 2017.

Owners who would like to continue using the Leica C Image Shuttle App should refrain from updating their iPhone or iPad’s operating system to iOS11 until the revised version is available.

Leica Camera will notify all customers and dealers as soon as the iOS11-compatible version of the Leica C Image Shuttle App is available.
