Leica has issued new, updated firmware for the entire range of Leica M10 and M240-generation cameras. This includes the M10-R, M10-P, M10 Monochrom, M10, and M10-D from the current generation, as well as the M (Typ 240), M-P (Typ 240), M (Typ 262), M-D (Typ 262) and the M Monochrom (Typ 246) from the prior generation. The firmware adds 6-bit code support and correction profiles for new lenses. Given the timing, seems that support is primarily aimed at the introduction and subsequent shipping of the recently re-introduced 50mm f/1.2 Noctilux-M ASPH.

For the M10-R, M10-P and M10 Monochrom, the firmware update also includes the new Leica Perspective Control (LPC) feature. You can read more about that functionality here. Even if there are no other bug fixes or improvements under the hood for the other cameras, according to the release notes, it's always good practice to keep updated to the latest firmware version. To simplify, we've aggregated all the firmware files by camera type below. Simply click the one for your camera to download, then check below for instructions based on your camera model.

I viewed the video on downloading firmware updates (M 10) and it looked easy….. BUT I get this message

There is no application set to open the document “M10-P-3.21.3.50-Customer(1).FW”.

I searched the App Store …. found Leica Acquire but it was of no help.

    Please help me

Hi David, I have an ASC edition and the linked firmware file doesn’t work. Do you know if there is supposed to be another file?

    David-

Thank you for the content on RedDot Forum. I find your videos and other information so helpful and informative.

Quick question-on the new firmware update for my M240. What does the update change? I didn’t notice anything different in the menu. I also wanted to know if I should execute both updates…one apparently being for lens update.

Thank you in advance for your insight.

David – I have a Leica M10-P with firmware version 2.7.5.0. When I follow the recommended procedures for installing version 3.21.3.50 it just doesn’t work. When I go to the “camera information” part of the menu it isn’t activated even though I’ve previously formatted the card before loading the update and charged the battery to 100%. Any suggestions? The reason I would like to upgrade is that I’ve started seeing a black screen intermittently in the rangefinder.

    Thanks,
    Richard Chambers
